Mother's Day

I found this poem and found it to be an appropriate post for today. Its a rough day for me, even though I do have my son here to celebrate with me, I am missing my girls today. Happy Mothers Day!

WHAT MAKES A MOTHER
-- author unknown

I thought of you and closed my eyes
And prayed to God today
I asked "What makes a Mother?"
And I know I heard Him say.

"A Mother has a baby"
This we know is true
"But God can you be a Mother,
When your baby's not with you?"

"Yes, you can," He replied
With confidence in His voice
"I give many women babies,
When they leave is not their choice.

Some I send for a lifetime,
And others for the day.
And some I send to feel your womb,
But there's no need to stay."

"I just don't understand this
God I want my baby to be here."
He took a deep breath and cleared His throat,
And then I saw the tear.

"I wish I could show you,
What your child is doing today.
If you could see your child's smile,
With all the other children and say...

'We go to Earth to learn our lessons,
Of love and life and fear.
My Mommy loved me oh so much,
I got to come straight here.

I feel so lucky to have a Mom,
Who had so much love for me.
I learned my lessons very quickly,
My Mommy set me free.

I miss my Mommy oh so much,
But I visit her every day.
When she goes to sleep,
On her pillow's where I lay

I stroke her hair and kiss her cheek,
And whisper in her ear.
Mommy don't be sad today,
I'm your baby and I'm here.'

"So you see my dear sweet ones,
your children are okay.
Your babies are born here in My home,
And this is where they'll stay.

They'll wait for you with Me,
Until your lesson's through.
And on the day that you come home
they'll be at the gates for you.

So now you see what makes a Mother,
It's the feeling in your heart
it's the love you had so much of
Right from the very start

Though some on earth may not realize,
you are a Mother.
Until their time is done.
They'll be up here with Me one day
and know that you are the best one!"

  4. Hi Brie - I just read your comment regarding MY comment on MckMammas page...

First off - it wasn't said to offend you or anyone else. I said it to make a point about how those having MANY kids HAVE to do more than one thing at a time.

But - I'm sorry to have upset you. My 2nd child was born as a micropreemie - weighing 1 lb 6 oz - and almost died three times in the first three months on earth. I understand what it's like to face that.

Again - it's just a joke between my sister and I... not meaning to hurt anyones feelings - but was comical for her and I.

  5. I'm so sorry for the loss of your Allison and Emily...beautiful, precious little ones. Your comment on MckMama's blog jumped out at me because my twin daughters, Faith and Grace went home to heaven on November 3, 1996. I would love to send a Dreams of You Memory Book and other items to you if you would like. Just email me if you would like to receive our gift to you: sufficientgraceministries@gmail.com. In the meantime, I am praying for God's continued comfort and sufficient grace as He carries you...

  6. I understand the pain, the missing of your babies...we too have experienced a twin child death, our 3 yr. old little Joel. Your girls are precious...may the Lord continue to show himself to your heart and hurt.

  8. Hi! I saw your comment on another blog about your twin girls. I am soooo sorry for your loss. I lost my twin girls, Emily Faith and Erika Hope, unexpectedly 9 years ago this past August. I saw your "Angry" post below this one, and completely empathize with you. Words alone do not ever truly convey the emptiness that you feel when dealing with such a tragic loss. I know the feeling that you are stuck in this world of sadness while life around you has moved on. I again am truly sorry for your loss. If you would ever like to talk, please contact me. I would be happy to listen. Just wanted you to know that I am and wil continue to think of you as your daughters' birthday is quickly approaching

  10. I just heard about your daughters, I am so sorry for your losses. No mother should ever experience the death of a child, and to go through it twice is unimaginable. I am so sorry.
